Achim Paul Walter Reschenberg, fondly known as "Achie," passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on August 23, 2024, after a life well-lived. Born on September 20, 1930, in Oshkosh to Valeska and Paul Reschenberg, he lived his life with dedication, leadership, and a deep love for his family and community.
In 1957, Achie married Elaine Nelson of Oshkosh. Together they shared 62 wonderful years and raised their family.
Following his high school graduation in 1949, Achie served in the US Army during the Korean War. When he returned to Oshkosh to work in the family business, Enterprise Steel Fab Inc., he started as a welder and fabricator, eventually rising to the position of president, a role he held until his retirement in 1995.
Achie was deeply involved in his community and church. As a long-time member of Trinity Episcopal Church, he served on the vestry for over 45 years and was instrumental in coordinating the addition to the church and restoration of the Tiffany window.
Achie was committed to supporting vocational education. He served on advisory boards for Fox Valley Technical College and Oshkosh Area Public Schools. He hired numerous students through the co-op program, providing them with valuable hands-on experience that served them well in their careers. His service extended to the local business community through his involvement with S.C.O.R.E., where he provided guidance and support to small business owners.
Achie was a proud Master Mason, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Freemason, and Shriner, serving as an active member for over 70 years.
In 2015, he had the opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. as part of Old Glory Honor Flight Mission 29. The trip filled him with pride, and he enjoyed the warm interactions with those who recognized and appreciated the sacrifices made by all veterans.
Even in retirement, Achie remained active, always seeking to contribute and stay engaged. Known for the twinkle in his bright blue eyes, he believed in 'working smarter, not harder,' and passed on this wisdom to those who worked with him. Achie thoroughly enjoyed fishing and cherished his time spent on the Chain O'Lakes in Waupaca, WI, where he found peace and joy on the water. Achie and his wife, Elaine, shared many special moments attending the opera, traveling, and taking leisurely car rides. They often made trips to Racine to indulge in their favorite treat—kringle. He was a natural storyteller, sharing family history, life lessons, and memories that kept family traditions alive.
Achie is survived by his three children: Ann (Paul) Muscavitch of Oshkosh; Tom (Kate) Reschenberg of Plymouth, MN; & Mark Reschenberg of Waupaca, WI, his five grandchildren: Zach (Zach Ferguson) Muscavitch of Tolland, CT; Jacob (Megan) Muscavitch of Oshkosh; Jack (Megan) Reschenberg of Birmingham, MI; Elizabeth Reschenberg of Kirksville, MO; & William Reschenberg of Columbia, SC, two great grandchildren: Olivia & Sophie Muscavitch of Oshkosh, in-laws: Kathleen Nelson Scott of Travelers Rest, SC; and Robert & Isabel Haberkorn of Grand Haven, MI, thirteen nieces and nephews, their families, and many dear friends.
