Barbara A. Janke, age 63, passed away at home in Oshkosh surrounded by her family on March 4, 2010 after a heroic battle with cancer. Barb was born on January 16, 1947 in Chicago Illinois. A 1964 graduate of Oshkosh High School, Barb held a variety of jobs in Oshkosh over the years and particularly loved her work as a veterinary assistant. She was recently retired from US Bank. Barb was preceded in death by her mother, Eileen Block, and her father, Paul Block. Survivors include her beloved son, Troy Monday, her sisters, Virginia (Ken) Mulder, Kristine Hanson and Kathleen Baird, and her brother, Jerrold (Drena)Block, as well as her many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Barb inspired others with her kindness, courage, determination and discipline. She loved rock and roll music and will always be our "dancing queen". A visitation for Barb will be held at Lakeview Memorial Park Chapel, (2786 Algoma Blvd.Oshkosh, WI) on Saturday, March 13, 2010, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Memorials to her son Troy Monday are appreciated. The family gives special thanks to Barb's hospice nurse, Becky, her colleagues at Heartland Hospice and Dr. Michael Duffy for their care and support.
