Obituary

Betty F. Kinderman, age 78, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully on July 9th, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center with her family at her side after a courageous year long battle with cancer. She was born on June 1, 1933 in Waupun, WI the daughter of Walter and Viola Siddall and grew up there. Betty married James Kinderman on January 10, 1953 and they began their married life together in Oshkosh.

After raising their 7 children, Betty worked at Hardee's Restaurant on 9th Street for 15 years as the dining room and playground supervisor. Betty and Jim both loved the EAA convention, hosting new and old friends for many years in their home and watching the amazing air shows. Betty retired from Hardee's in 1996 and became a devoted full time caregiver for her husband. Jim passed away on September 30, 2006 after almost 54 years of marriage.

Betty had many interests. She loved house plants and working in her flower gardens along with watching the many varieties of birds that ate at her feeders. Betty had a wide selection of seasonal decorations that she proudly displayed (inside and out) for every holiday occasion. She was also an avid fisherwoman having learned the sport from her father and looked forward to the yearly vacations at Little Silver Lake. Although she liked Wisconsin sport teams, her true allegiance was to the Chicago Teams: Bears, Bulls & Cubs. Her favorite athlete, by far, was Michael Jordan. Betty enjoyed the blessings of a large, close knit family and loved spending time with them.

Betty is survived by her children: Cynthia (Mark) Karolewicz of St. Francis and their children Amy (Matthew) Junemann and Jeffrey; Craig (Bickey) Kinderman of Oshkosh and their children Kelly (Brett) Voss, Kevin (Jennifer) and Kyle; Richard Kinderman of Beaver Dam and his children Kristi, Kay and Andrew; David (Tina) Kinderman of Oshkosh and their children Ryan, Adam (fiancée Rehana) and Michael; Thomas (Julia) Kinderman of New Berlin and their son Daniel; Michael (Mary) Kinderman of Appleton and their children Danielle, Jeremy, James and Matthew; Mark (Bette) Kinderman of Madison and their children Anna and Claire; great-grandchildren Logan Juneau and Charlotte Swenson; one sister-in-law, Joan Kinderman of Oshkosh; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to her husband Jim, she was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws and one sister, Mary Armfield.

A Memorial Mass for Betty will be held at 11:00 am next Wednesday, July 20th at St. Jude the Apostle Parish (St. Vincent Church) at 1225 Oregon Street, Oshkosh with the Rev. Fr. William Van de Kreeke officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 19th at the church from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and on Wednesday from 10:00 am to the time of service. Private interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 790 Marvelle Ln., Green Bay, WI 54304 or to Father Carr's Place 2B, 1965 Oshkosh Ave., Oshkosh, WI 54902.
