Betty A. Taugher passed away on 12/26/2025, peacefully, with her children at her side, at Aurora Hospital, after a brief stay. She was born in Cambria, WI on 01/03/1933 to Lawrence A. and Grace Lorena Blackbourn. She grew up in Berlin, WI, along with brothers, Robert and Ronald, who preceded her in death.
In 1952, she married Brian Daire Taugher, and together, they raised 5 children. First, living in La Crosse and Iowa in Brian’s college years, and then in Oshkosh, where they established a successful physical therapy practice. Betty managed the office with focused determination and genuine compassion for both patients and staff.
In later years, they enjoyed many adventures around the United States and were accomplished world travelers. They also loved quiet sunsets at their Silver Lake house. Her widowed years were spent independently in the house she loved reading, corresponding with her many acquaintances, playing cribbage or taking “backroad” excursions with her friend Bill, and watching the animals around her cherished 300 year old oak trees.
She is survived by her children, Ann (Mark) Davis, Michael (Sherie) Taugher, Jim (Lynnette)Taugher, Judy (Jim) Hacker and Sheila Taugher; grandchildren, Meghan, Tess, Ben and Abby; great-grandchildren, Ester, Morrison, Alphonso, Daire and Margot.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
