Obituary

Brian Daire Taugher, loved by his family, loyal to his friends and proud of his Irish heritage, passed away on July 16, 2018 with his wife at his side. He was born June 14th, 1932 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of the late Dr. Victor and Anna (Blommer) Taugher, the seventh of eight children. The family moved to Berlin and after graduating from high school there in 1950, he married Betty Blackbourn on October 21st, 1952. Brian enlisted in the Armed Forces and served his country from 1952-1955. He attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, obtaining a degree in Physical Education in 1957, and completed his studies with a Physical Therapy degree from the University of Iowa in 1958. He then moved his young family to Oshkosh to begin practicing. In 1970 he started Physical Therapy Associates of Oshkosh with Joe Collins, building a successful independent practice, retiring in 1998, although he continued to work part-time. His love for being a physical therapist came easy as well as fondness for his patients and the people who worked for him. He also volunteered as an athletic trainer for both Oshkosh West and Oshkosh North High Schools for many years and was active in YMCA Swim Team Parents. Faith was a very prominent part of his life and he was a devout member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of almost 66 years and has five children: Ann (Mark) Davis, Michael (Sherie McGrath) Taugher, Jim (Lynnette) Taugher, Judy (Jim) Hacker and Sheila Taugher; five grandchildren: Meghan (Dave) Servais, Tess (Tony) Alvarez, Brittany Selle, Benjamin (Lily Kampo) Hacker, Abigail (Cameron) Nicewander; four great-grandchildren: Esther and Morrison Servais, Daire Nicewander, and baby boy Alvarez due in August. He is also survived by two brothers: Robert and Richard and their wives; two brothers-in-law: Robert and Ronald; nieces and nephews; and many other friends too numerous to mention.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, July 28, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 12:00 p.m. at Most Blessed Sacrament-ST. Brian lived his life with honor, integrity and compassion for others. He was hard working and fun loving, living life to the fullest. He will be missed by all, but his memory will live on as our hero, a soldier of God, a world traveler, the "King of Kind" and all around good guy.

The love of the Son of God's peace to you.
Where ever your journey takes you, mind the road home now. (Irish Sayings)
