Carol Ann San Filippo passed away at her home in Omro, Wisconsin on February 24, 2025. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Carol was born in Sacramento, California on August 21,1943 and was raised in Fresno, California. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1960. While in high school she met the love of her life, Vance. She and Vance were married for 52 years.
Carol and Vance raised three daughters in Fremont, California. When the girls were out of the house, they were able to start their amazing adventure of living in Frankfurt, Germany for seven years. While living in Germany they got the travel bug and spent their spare time seeing Europe. Carol was an Anglophile and enjoyed many trips to England.
Upon returning home to the states, she and Vance settled in Battle Creek, Michigan. When Vance retired from the Federal Aviation Administration in 1997, they moved to Omro, Wisconsin to be closer to family. She was a dedicated Episcopalian who spent many years volunteering with her local church community. Having been life-long aviation enthusiasts, she and Vance quickly became busy volunteering their time with the Experimental Aircraft Association. Carol worked tirelessly at Pioneer Airport and could frequently be found travelling in the Midwest with the Ford Tri-Motor NC8407. She and the airplane even shared the birthday of August 21st, albeit just a few years apart!
Carol was Nonna to the world. With her beautiful purple hair she is lovingly called "Grandma with the Purple Hair" by her five great-grandchildren. Carol was never happier than when she had a young person to spend time with, especially if they could be in the kitchen or doing crafts together.
She was a nurturer who enjoyed being of use to others. If something needed repair, mending or just some sprucing up you could always take it to Miss Carol. There was always a fresh baked cookie and something wonderful cooking in her kitchen.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Bernard Vance San Filippo. She is survived by her daughters Stephanie Parsons (Jim), Annie San Filippo-Conger (Mike), Karen Gray (Bob). She was blessed with five grandchildren, Nicholas, Jennifer, Brittany, Blake and Marshall. Five great-grandchildren include Lane, Swayze, Brynlee, Reid and Maurice. Niece Becky White (Richard) and Great Niece Boston. Also included in her survivors are her dear friends, the Lehman family, Susan Koon and her best friend Cecilia.
Private services will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Oshkosh,
Wisconsin.
