Obituary

Carroll Edward Hecker, born May 7th, 1928, was carried by angels to eternal life on December 14th, 2006, at the quiet time of 5:20 PM.

Carroll, the son of Edward & Alvina Hecker, and husband to Tammy (Pierotti), has left his loving family with memories of his most cherished activities which include fishing, hunting and playing semi-pro ball.

Carroll enjoyed peace and solitude at his haven near Pearl Lake with feeding the birds and the wood stove. Per Carroll's instructions, wife Tammy will carry on the tasks of feeding the birds and wood stove as well as enjoying the solitude and peace at Pearl Lake. Sharing his love for dogs with daughter Kim (Hecker), Tuesday nights were "new recipe" nights shared with daughter and son-in-law Beth and Jim Tofari. Grandson Tony Tofari spent many hours with grandpa sharing the great outdoors, hunting the big one and fishing the Brule River. Granddaughter, Kayla Tofari received her grandpa's patience for animals, particularly dogs. Carroll passed his passion of sports onto his son Mark Hecker who has also passed the passion onto Carroll's grandsons; Jordan, Dylan and Austin Hecker. Daughter-in-law Lori (Peterson) being the main cheerleader and supporter for her husband and boys. Carroll kept dates on the calendar to assure he would not allow his sister Ruth (Titzkowski) to be late for her appointments. He is further survived by niece Jill (Titzkowski) Backus, Nephew Tom (Carol) Titzkowski, great nieces Ellen (Dave) Boldt, Laura and Ann Titzkowski, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Don & Marge Pierotti, Jerry & Judy Pierotti. AFS daughter Kalla Bjorg, AFS son Philip Montrassio, along with many caring relatives and friends. A celebration of Carroll's life will be held privately by his family. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Carroll's name. The family would like to thank the caring staff of Affinity Hospice.

When the chimney starts to smoke, close your eyes . . . and think of me.

If you are in a tree or in a blind, close your eyes . . . and think of me.

If you are on a walk with your dog, close your eyes . . . and think of me.

Now I am safe and have no pain, close your eyes . . . and think of me.

I've left the wood box full for you; my last small errand has been issued.

Sharing trips to the Brule leave me many memories.

I ask that my last trip there will bring back happy memories.

All those notes I've left for you to tell you where I might be,

When I leave this last time you know with whom I'll be.

Here's the place and time my friend, you and I must part.

I will always miss this man who has the largest heart.

Poem written by favorite son-in-law Jim Tofari, Jr.
