Obituary

Charles William Oesterreich, age 77, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully, at home, on Sunday, June 7, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer. Charles was born on May 4, 1938 and raised in Antigo, WI, where he graduated from Antigo High School. He moved to Oshkosh, WI, where he joined the National Guard in the 50s. Charles worked 23 years as a heavy machinery operator for R.M. Payne Excavating. He retired, and then drove truck for N&M Transfer of Neenah. Charles had a love for sports. He played fast- and slow- pitch softball for Tiger's Den. He also played softball for the Oshkosh Ambassadors for 14 years. He traveled to many states with the Ambassadors and played in The World Softball Tournament in Winnipeg, Canada. He was an above average bowler, having bowled a 300 game. Charles also had a love for fishing. On a beautiful day, you could find him down on the T-docks at Rainbow Park. Charles is survived by his wife of 25 years, Susan; his children, Charles Malados, Steve (Mary) Oesterreich, Cheryl (Mike) Riley, Diann Spatz (Cory) Gerondale; and his two step-children, Jason McKay (Angel Yu) and Angela McKay. He is survived by his mother, Erma Oesterreich. Charles is one of 12 children. He is survived by, Mary Ryckman, Ed (Beth) Oesterreich, Joe (Judy) Oesterreich, Evelyn (Ron) Stelter, Herb (Joyce) Oesterreich, August (Lynn) Oesterreich, Erma (Steve) Christian, Dorothy (Steve) Lisbeth, Herman (Sue) Oesterreich, Helen (Mark) Hildebrand, many grand children, great grand children, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, William Oesterreich, and his brother, Kiel Oesterreich.The memorial service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the funeral home. Friends will be received on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. The family would like to thank the Affinity Hospice team for their hard work and kind hearts.
