Obituary

Charles F. Polar, age 84 of Neenah, passed away Wednesday December 5, 2007 at home with his family by his side. He was born on October 15, 1923 in Vilas County, Wisconsin, the son of Archie and Ruby (Thorn) Polar. Charles served in the United States Army from 1948 until 1952, and in 1951 while stationed in Germany, he married Barbara Merdinger, and they both immigrated back to the states after his enlistment. He retired from Wisconsin Tissue Mills in Neenah, and enjoyed fishing, watching golf, football, and CNN on television. Charles is survived by his wife, Barbara M. Polar, Neenah; their children, Art, Neenah, Ruby (Manfred),Germany, Charlie (Terry), Benny (Jill), Ronnie (Marie), Sherry (Jim), all of Neenah, Janice, Appleton, Michael, Neenah, and Bryan (Pam), of Appleton; thirteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Agnes, Antigo, Bob (Carol), Appleton, Lawrence (Carol), Virginia, Laurel (Jim), Tennessee, one daughter-in-law, Debbie (Mark) Drier, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Patricia, one son, Allen, two grandsons, Jake and James, two brothers, Douglas and Ed, one sister, Beth, and one daughter-in-law, Elizabeth. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday December 9, 2007, at 2:00 P.M., at 3212 S. Oneida St., with Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday at the funeral home from 1:00 P.M. until time of services. A special thanks to the staff of Cherry Meadows Hospice and Theda Care at Home, especially Ann and Diane, and to Meals on Wheels employee Steve Porter, who Charles always looked forward to seeing and talking with
