Charlotte L. Samida, age 87, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, June 23, 2018. She was born in Oshkosh on January 18, 1931, the daughter of John and Violet (Arthurs) Samida.
Employed in the food service industry most of her working career, Charlotte first started at the Checker Board Restaurant, later at Hessers Supper Club (where she won two prestigious awards), and also at the Columbus Club, before retiring from Miles Kimball Company. Charlotte always had a large vegetable garden and shared them with everyone. Whenever Charlotte got the chance, she loved to go gambling.
Survivors include a sister, Josephine Hoppe; two sisters-in-law, Carol Samida and Nancy Samida; and 28 nieces and nephews (each one very special to Charlotte). Charlotte is preceded in death are her parents; her sisters, Mary Burzik, Shirley Flat, Elanor Omness, Lorraine Grasee, and Anna Friday; and her brothers, John, Ralph, David, Donald, and Robert Samida.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2018, in the chapel at Lake View Memorial Park, with Pastor Karen Jewell officiating. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the chapel.
