Cherie Smoody, 77, of Oshkosh, WI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 11 surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Oshkosh on September 12, 1949 a daughter to William and Louise Kollaske.

Cherie loved her family and friends and her passion was people and conversation. She loved sitting around the kitchen table telling stories which lead to a lot of laughter. She had several lifelong friends from childhood and made several more throughout her life working at Mercy Hospital and Elijah’s Place. She enjoyed elderly people and their stories.

She loved her bi-weekly card nights and prayer groups, but more than anything she loved her children and grandchildren. She never missed a school function or sporting event they were involved in.

She was really looking forward to celebrating her 50th wedding anniversary on November 20 with the love of her life.

She will be forever missed by her husband of 50 years, David Smoody; and her sons, Jeff Wright, Brad (Dottie) Wright, Brent Wright and Randy Smoody; and her daughter, Darcy (Ryan) Michalkiewicz; grandchildren, Zachary Sikes, Cassandra (Robert) Sikes, Candice Sikes, Alyssa (Derek) Mills, Paige (Keenan) Moehring, Stella Wright, Lexi (Brian) Schaefer, Dakota (Nora) Wright, Kyle Wright, Dylan Wright, Tyler Wright, Bryant Wright, Hailey Kons and Sawyer Kon; and 13 great- grandchildren. Further survived by her brother, Bill Kolaske; and brother-in-law; Bob Nagler; and multiple nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca Sikes-Greenwood; parents, William and Louise Kolaske, sisters, Karen Nagler, Kay and Don Connors.

A memorial service will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church, 2580 W. 9th Avenue in Oshkosh on Saturday, October 24. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM with service at 11:00 AM.
