Obituary

Claire Mae Schultz, age 96, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025, at The Courtyard at Oshkosh Memory Care Center. Claire was born on May 28, 1929, to Louis Kocian and Dorothy (Hussin) Kocian in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She was a 1951 graduate of St. Mary's School of Nursing in Green Bay. It was during this time that she was introduced to the love of her life, James A. Schultz.

Claire took great pride in her nursing career and the fact that she served as a surgical scrub nurse. She also served on the very first blood mobile in the state of Wisconsin.

Jim and Claire were married on June 20, 1953, at the Church of Annunciation in Green Bay, Wisconsin. And off they went, moving from Wisconsin to Georgia to Michigan to Connecticut, back to Wisconsin, and then to Minnesota. They lovingly raised four children during that time, and they opened their home to underprivileged students of the ABC (A Better Chance) program. They were also strong supporters of Father Marty Carr and Oshkosh's Place 2B. Their home was always a welcoming spot for all their friends and children's friends.

Claire was an accomplished pianist who entertained her family with beautiful music on a regular basis and took a part-time job at Richard's School of the Dance in the 1970's, which she loved.

Claire is survived by her children; Lori, Michael (Terry), Catherine (Michael Cluff), and Patrick (Sandra). She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, and a very special companion – Grace Brown all of whom she adored.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Roger (Capuchin brother John Kocian); and her loving husband, Jim. We can only imagine their thrill of being reunited once again.

A special thanks goes out to the care teams at the Courtyard at Oshkosh, Heartland Hospice, and Senior Stride Home Care. Your love, patience and kindness will not be forgotten.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Claire at Queen of Apostles Church in Sussex, Wisconsin on a date yet to be determined.
