Dale Davies Wood, age 87, of Oshkosh, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 14, 2009 at Aurora Hospital. Dale was born in Oshkosh on April 26, 1922, the son of Warren and Margretta (Davies) Wood.
He was educated in the Oshkosh and graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1940. Dale proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. After the service, he attended and graduated from Michigan Tech University. Dale married the former Bonney Hartley in Oshkosh on July 29, 1944. Dale had worked for the Paine Lumber Company, and went on to own and operate The Oakfield Brick and Shale Company for a number of years. Later in his career, he became the business director of Paine Art Center & Arboretum. Dale was a true sports fan who not only enjoyed watching the Packers and St. Louis Cardinals, but was an avid golfer as well.
Dale will be missed by his son, David (Carol) of Wheaton, IL, his daughter, Marion Bryce (Larry) Marine of Oshkosh; four grandsons, Brandon, Pat, Mike and Kevin; two granddaughters, Meghan and Rachel; his brother, Lynn (Sharon) Wood of Appleton and one cousin, Joyce Lloyd of Oshkosh. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Bonney. Bonney preceded him in death on December 19, 1983
In accordance with Dale's wishes, there will be a private family service held. He will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a donation fund will be established in his name.
