David K. Peterson, age 66, of Oshkosh, passed away on October 26, 2007, at home surrounded by the love of his family, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born in Sioux Falls, S.D., on November 26, 1940, the son of William and Marjorie Peterson. David honorably served in the U.S. Navy for 24 years. During that time, he served on the USS Valley Forge, during Viet Nam, and then later served on the USS Nimitz. David had worked for the City of Oshkosh, Wastewater Treatment Plant for 17 years until his retirement. David had many passions in life. He especially enjoyed planes, motorcycles, EAA, cars and woodworking.
David is survived by his children, Theresa Peterson, Brian (Tomi) Peterson, Kevin (Donna) Peterson, Timothy (Michelle) Peterson, and David (Tami) Peterson; 14 grandchildren; the mother of his children, Virginia Albrecht, all of Montana. He is further survived by his former spouse, Carla Peterson; his sister, Jana Spanbauer of Oshkosh; half brothers, Jim and Scott Peterson; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister and brother, step brother, Bobby Helms, and brother in law, Richard Spanbauer.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday, October 29, 2007, at 10:00 A.M. at Glad Tidings Tabernacle, 122 W. Bent Ave., Oshkosh with Rev. Collin Hughes officiating. A memorial in David's name is being established.
