Obituary

Delwyn Moxon, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, known to all as Del, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at the age of 83 surrounded by his family. Del was born Delwyn LeRoy Moxon on June 15, 1934 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Milton and Edna (Countryman) Moxon. At the age of seventeen, he joined the navy, where he proudly served the country he loved for 5 years active duty and 28 years in the reserves. While stationed at the Oshkosh Naval Reserve as a station keeper, he met and married Gloria (Lindgren) on June 30, 1956.
Del was a man who knew the value of a hard day's work and instilled an incredible work ethic in his children and grandchildren. He worked most of his adult life at American National Can in Neenah, WI as a pipefitter, where he frequently put in more hours than there actually were in a week. He retired in 1996 at the age of 62 and decided the perfect retirement project would be to move a house across town and remodel it.
A true handy-man at heart, he collected every tool he could find and was often heard saying, "If I don't have it, they didn't make it!" Rarely seen without some type of hand-tool or dandelion picker in his hand; his love for puttering around his house and grounds brought him a great sense of joy and purpose. Always ready with some helpful, if not requested advice, he was often one of the first to show up and start lending a hand. His recent daily walks with his dog, Ryder, and his gift of gab served him well in getting to know each of his neighbors around his block. He befriended all and was loved by all.
Del will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife of 61 years, Gloria, and his children: Rory (Tricia), Darren (Karen), Renee and Melissa (Jerry) Trinrud. He will also be fondly remembered by his thirteen grandchildren: Tylere, Channing, Damaris, Dakota, Marcus, Michaela, Noah, Morgan, Quintin, Drake, Carson, Gabriella and Ava; by his great-grandchildren: Emma, Liam, Avery, and Kent; and by his brothers: Richard, Jerry, David and Tom, and by his friend Rick who thought of Del like a father.
The family would like to say a special thanks to the OFD paramedics and the Theda Clark ER and ICU staff (especially Brianna) who all worked to help Del and show him love and kindness after his tragic fall that led to his last moments.
A visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at COMMUNITY CHURCH, 2351 Ryf Rd., Oshkosh, with military honors to follow. A small luncheon will begin at 1:00 p.m. for those who wish to stay and reminisce. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Del's name is being established.
