Diane Genal

Diane H. Genal, 86, of New Holstein, WI, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026, at Willowdale Nursing Home.
She was born on March 9, 1940, to the late Arthur and Annabel Westenberger. Diane grew up in Stockbridge alongside her five brothers, Marvin “Dunk,” Charles, Paul, Robert and Philip. She graduated from Stockbridge High School and went on to begin her career at Tecumseh Products in New Holstein. It was there she met the love of her life, Carl “Butch” Genal.
Diane and Butch were united in marriage and built a life together in New Holstein, where they raised their two sons, Jon and Joey. She was known for being a hard worker and a devoted mother. After Butch passed away far too soon, Diane showed remarkable strength and resilience as she raised her young boys on her own, always putting her family first.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Butch; her son, Jon; her siblings; and other dear family members.
Diane is survived by her son, Joey; her grandson, Zachary, son of Jon; and many nieces and nephews.
Following her retirement, Diane found great joy in caring for grandson, Zachary, when he was younger. The two shared a special bond & spent many cherished hours together, bringing her immense happiness.
Diane was a “tell it like it is” kind of person who spoke her mind and lived life on her own terms. She loved shopping, was always up for going out to eat, and enjoyed her daily mornings at McDonald’s with her friend circle, as well as occasional trips to the casino with special friends. She was also a member of a local Red Hat group.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Willowdale Nursing Home for the kindness & care they provided to Diane.
