Obituary

Donna M. VanDerhei (85) was embraced by God into eternal life on July 7,2015, with family by her side. Donna was born in Antigo, Wisconsin to George and Bertha (Frisch) Ourada on November 15, 1929. She graduated from Antigo High School in 1947 and Columbia College of Nursing in 1950. Donna married Jack VanDerhei at Polk Air Force Base on March 31, 1951. Together, they celebrated 60 years of marriage. Donna worked as Registered Nurse for 40 years beginning at Polk Air Force Base, and continuing at Antigo Memorial Hospital, Mercy Medical Center,Rockwell International, Kimberly Clark, and Oshkosh City Health Department.She was also an active volunteer in the Oshkosh community, serving on the board for Confront Addictions Now (C.A.N.) and as a nurse for the Experimental Aircraft Association. Donna also was active in Learning In Retirement and the Red Hats Society.Donna is survived by her 5 children, Jack (Beverley Rollins), Deborah(Geoff McMahon), Thom (Tracy Harmelink), Vicki (John Porior), and Dan(Melanie Coleman), as well as 10 grandchildren, Amy and Susan VanDerhei,Patrick, Elizabeth, and Katherine McMahon, Grace and Charlie VanDerhei,Zach and Josh Porior, and Eden VanDerhei. Donna is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers, Allen and Robert Ourada. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Affinity Visiting Nurses and the staff at Evergreen for their compassionate care. The family is particularly grateful for the many family friends that provided prayerful companionship for Donna during her final weeks including Father Doug LaCaptain and Paula Rieder of St. Rapheal's Catholic Church.A Mass of celebration will be held at St. Raphael's Catholic Church 830 S.Westhaven Dr., Oshkosh, on Friday, July 17 at 12 noon, with visitation from 10-12. In lieu of flowers, the family will be selecting a scholarship to benefit nursing students
