Doris Marie Petersen, age 90, went on to her next adventure on February 14, 2026, in Oshkosh, WI. She was born to parents, Christian and Edna (Sucher) Petersen, on July 24, 1935, in Neenah, WI.

She graduated from Oshkosh High. After school, she became a typist and moved with her mother to Colorado to see the mountains and spend time with her until her passing. Occasionally she would travel back to Colorado with friends. Doris also furthered her education at college in a LPN program, but she liked doing the nurses aide more. In 1960, she moved back to Wisconsin and worked at Winnebago Mental Health, Sunnyview for 10 years, then Parkview, Evergreen Manor for 15 years, working for 35 years total as a nurse aide. She went back to work after retiring and worked at both Motel 6 and the Piggly Wiggly. Retiring again in 2007, at the age of 72.

Doris was an avid reader, baker, loved birdwatching, and taking care of the birds and cats. She will be remembered for being loving, soft hearted and having a good sense of humor.

She is survived by her nieces, Debra Marks and Judy White; nephews, Dennis Schmick and Jay Schmick; good friends, Joyce Stapleton, Dorothy Vaughn, Nina Buske and Mary Rose; and lots of friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Christian and Edna; four sisters, Edna Schmick, Alfreda Dibble, Esther Petersen and Emily Petersen; one brother, Clifford Petersen; and her kitties, Missy and Pinkerton.

Per her wishes, no formal services will be held.
