Dorothy Ann Olesen, 83, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2010, with her family by her side.
Dorothy was born on February 9, 1927 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Cecil and Kitty (Bosworth) Sturgeon. She attended Hughes High School. Throughout the years Dorothy worked tirelessly as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She also worked as a teacher's aide and retired from Mercy Medical Center as a nursing assistant.
Dorothy was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Church (St. Mary's site) in Oshkosh.
Dorothy married Donald James Olesen on July 12, 1955 in Austin, Texas. Dorothy and Don have three children, Sandi Brown, the late Bill (Ann), and Jeanna. Her six grandchildren are Eric (Lynn) Olesen, Nick (Chris) Olesen, Courtney Brown, Simon Olesen, Emily Olesen, and Jordan Olesen. Dorothy's great-grandchildren include Morgan, Bridget, and Melia Olesen, Eli Nelson, and Kayli Olesen. Further survived by Nick's mother, Cindy Olesen, other relatives and friends.
Dorothy has three siblings, Cecil, Wallace, and Jackie Hornung, who resides in Ohio.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Don, her son, Bill, and her brothers, Cecil and Wallace.
A visitation is being held on Thursday, November 18, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Most Blessed Sacrament Church (St. Mary's site), 605 Merritt Ave., Oshkosh. Following is a private family burial. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated.
Dorothy's family expresses deep gratitude to Hospice Advantage, who took extraordinary care of her prior to her journey home, and to her many friends who deeply loved her.
