Duane Robert Zuhlke, age 66, of Oshkosh, was called home to Heaven, on Saturday, May 27, 2006, with his loved ones at his side.
Duane was born July 20, 1939 in Oshkosh, the son of the late Herbert and Doris Zuhlke. Duane married Susan Schlaak on November 22, 1958 at Emmanuel United Church of Christ. Duane spent most of his life in Oshkosh. Illness forced him to retire early from Printco in Omro. Duane served in the Army Reserve and was a member of the 32nd Red Arrow Division.
Survivors include Susan, his beloved wife of 48 years; two daughters, Cheryl Gessert and Deanna "D-D" Zuhlke Foust; two sons, Kelly (Rhonda) Zuhlke and Jay Zuhlke; six grandchildren, Adam Algar, Kelsie Padigimus, Cody Gessert, Austin Hoppe, Christy Lee Forest and Matthew Zuhlke; two sisters, Helen Leverez, and Joyce (Lloyd) Stone; three brothers, Bill (Naomi) Zuhlke, Paul (Janet) Zuhlke, John (Pat) Zuhlke; mother and father in law, Ray and Jeanette Schlaak, sisters & brothers in law, Terry & Bonnie Lewis, Dennis & Tracie Schlaak, Jeffrey & Denise Schlaak, John & Tonya Schulz and Dawn Devoe, also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and his special friends, John & Colleen Rhoades and Tammy Vaughan. Duane is preceded in death by an infant son, Matthew Zuhlke and grandson Kyle Gessert.
Duane was an avid Packer fan, he enjoyed sports and gardening. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and greatly missed by all who loved him so dearly.
Duane was an organ donor. Cremation has taken place and a private family service with Pastor Donald Olsen officiating will be held at a later date.
