Edward Duchna passed away on December 30, 2015, at Evergreen Retirement Community in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where he had resided since 2006. Edward Frank Duchna, age 97, was born in Albany, New York, on October 29, 1918, to Frank and Catherine (Zaraczynski) Duchna. Ed was raised in Albany and lived there until he went into the U.S. Army Air Force in 1942. There he proudly served in England for three years. After the military he returned to Albany where he resumed his career with The New York State Department of Health in its Division of Laboratories and Research. There he met his wife, Lillian Etta Loftus and they were married in 1949. They had a son, Carl in 1950. Ed retired in 1983 and enjoyed dogs, fishing, coin collecting, electronics, and travel vacations with his family. Survivors include two nieces, Joan Frank, of Albany, New York and Lydia (Loftus) Anderson, of Spring Branch, Texas; and a nephew, David Loftus, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Etta, in 2012, their son, Carl Duchna, in 2005, two sisters, Marcella Frank and Catherine "Stella" Duchna. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Albany, New York.
