Edward Slovick, 90, passed away peacefully on May 21st at home in Oshkosh, Wisconsin surrounded by his loving family.Edward was born in Chicago, Illinois, one of three children, first generation Americans born to Eastern European immigrants Samuel Slovick and Eva (née Posner) Slovick. He was raised in Chicago, attending Chicago public schools, graduating from high school at age 15. While attending Wright Junior College in Chicago, Edward was drafted into the Army Air Corps. Following his World War II service, he attended Loyola University Chicago School of Law, graduating second in his class in 1952. After serving in the Illinois State Attorney General's Office, he later entered private practice in Chicago where he remained for the balance of his career. A formidable and respected securities litigator in Chicago, his professional achievements included oral arguments before the U.S. Supreme Court. Above all else, Eddie was a family man. A beloved and devoted husband and father, he is survived by is wife Marilyn "Mimi" (née Krueger) of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, whom he married August 31, 1950; six children, Julie (Tom Scofield), Polly (Charles Smith), Sam, John, Tom (Amber Phillips), and David; six grandchildren, Ethan, Maggie (Owen Wyatt), and Lydia Scofield, Stuart (Jennifer Levy), Macy (John Litvay), and Edward Smith (Stephanie Meyer); a great grandson, Chase Edward Smith, three great granddaughters, Parker Smith, Claire and Julia Litvay, and his brother Herbert. He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin sister, Esther.Eddie is remembered for his tremendous generosity and fierce loyalty. There are no words to express how deeply he was loved and how much he will be missed. Per his wish, he will be cremated and honored in a private family ceremony. We celebrate him by holding him close in our hearts.
