Edwin Gallatin Jr.'s Obituary

Edwin passed away peacefully on May 9th, 2025, surrounded by his wife, daughters, and many grandchildren by his side.
Ed was an avid reader. He also enjoyed a wide variety and styles of music. He loved fly tying with his father and was active in steel tip dart competitions for years. Edwin had a love of cooking for his family, which he was lucky to get from his mother. He enjoyed working in his yard when he was able and loved nature.
His greatest joy was spending time with his family, and he was a very proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather!!!
Ed joined the U.S. Air Force and served during the Vietnam War.
After the Air Force, Ed completed his Mathematics Degree at the University of Florida. He moved back to Wisconsin and soon began teaching at Milwaukee Technical College and also taught courses at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.
It was during this time that Ed started dating Debra. They married in 1994.
He moved to Oshkosh in 1993 and began a long career teaching at Oshkosh Correctional Institution, where he taught for over 30 years. He never lost his passion in teaching or in the belief of prisons offering rehabilitation programs.
Ed is proceeded in death by his parents, Edwin and June Gallatin; and stepdaughter, Heidi Steuck.
Edwin is survived by his wife, Debra Gallatin; daughters, Sarah (Brad) Davis, Amy (Jason) Glasheen, Becky Roffers and Heidi's husband, Chris Steuck. He is survived by 14 grandchildren and also two adorable great-grandsons!
We would like to make mention of his grandson, Caleb John, who he had the privilege of helping to raise.
Edwin is further survived by his brothers, Wayne (Theresa) Gallatin and
Warren (Marjorie) Gallati; along with nieces and nephews.
Ed's family has planned a dual celebration of life for both Edwin and their daughter Heidi, on April 10th, 2026, from 3pm to 5pm at the indoor Lakeshore Park Pavilion in Oshkosh.
Please join us for a casual day of sharing our love and memories of both Ed and Heidi.
In lieu of flowers, a request has been made to send donations to Ronald McDonald's House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin. http://mhc-easternwi.org/
The family would like to give a special Thank You to Heartland Hospice group of Fond Du Lac, for all their care and love.
They would also like to give a very special Thank You to Dr. Bylow for and all the staff at the Life Clinic at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.
