Obituary

Elaine Edna Schroeder, of Oshkosh (also formerly of Birchwood, Wisconsin) died on Wednesday April 4, 2012, after several months of multiple chronic illnesses.

Elaine Buege was born December 21, 1931, in Marinette, Wisconsin. She graduated from Marinette High School in 1950 and married her husband Roy Schroeder later that same year. They were married for 61 years. With her husband and 3 children, she resided in Grand Rapids, Michigan for several years; then Oshkosh until 1977 when she and Roy moved to Birchwood, only to return to Oshkosh 7 years ago. Her employment history provided her with many experiences. She worked with General Motors, AT&T, Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, and other part-time recreational employment in her later years. Elaine was an active member within the Lutheran church in her communities. Elaine enjoyed free time playing cards - mainly bridge, reading, golfing, boating, water skiing, biking and participation in civic clubs. She also liked to travel and has been many places, usually to warmer climates to have a break from Wisconsin winters.

Elaine is the youngest of three sisters, preceded in death by Bernice (Art) Christianson, survived by Eunice (Bill) Kuntz. She is survived by her husband, Roy Schroeder, Oshkosh; her children: Jeff Schroeder, Oshkosh; Rindy (Dave) Meilahn, New Smyrna Beach, Florida; and Melinda Pedersen, Birchwood; five grandchildren: Chris (Lyn) Meilahn, Angie Meilahn, Robby Schroeder, Carly and Jill Pedersen; and two great-grandchildren: Reese Meilahn and Alex Meilahn. Elaine was a fun-loving and caring person who loved her family and friends. Elaine loved spoiling her grandchildren and socializing. In her more recent words, she conveyed that she enjoyed life and all of the experiences she has had, including the mistakes that being human brings.

A celebration of life service for Elaine Edna Schroeder will be held on Saturday, May 19th at 11:00 at Lord of the Lakes church, 6090 Harbour South Drive in Winneconne, Wisconsin, with visitation beginning at 10:00. Memorials may be given to family or sent to Roy Schroeder.
