Eldon (Al) Huinker, age 69, of Oshkosh, died unexpectedly on Saturday morning, March 12, 2011, at Aurora Medical Center following a short illness. Al was born on July 15, 1941, in Iowa, the son of Victor and Irene (Buchheit) Huinker. He grew up in Iowa where he graduated from Monona High School. Al and Judy were married May 8, 1981, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Al had a special personality he loved to share with people from all walks of life. He retired from the Bergstrom Corporation in 2005 after many years of sales and service for a business he truly loved. Prior to that he worked in the insurance industry for over 36 years. The highlight of Al's mornings was spending time with "the boys" over coffee. He was an avid Packer, Badger and Hawkeye fan. He loved spending time outdoors during the summer, visiting neighbors, cooking and buying gadgets to share with Judy. Al especially loved to spend time with his family and friends.
Al is loved and will be missed by his wife Judy (Kuehneman) of Oshkosh, WI; children: Tammy (Bill) Ruedinger of Oshkosh, WI; Rick (Mary) Waters of West Bend, WI; Joe (Tina) Huinker of Oshkosh, WI; Dan (Lisa) Huinker of Dubuque, IA; Dave (Elaine) Huinker of Dubuque, IA; Julie (Mike) Berendes of Neenah, WI; grandchildren: Jessica (AJ) Wilson, Chris (Bibiana) and Austin Huinker, Trevor and Ellie Huinker, Nate and Matt Huinker, Sam, Jackson, Sawyer and Owen Berendes; great-grandchildren: Kaleb and Madi Wilson; Brady Huinker; brothers: Jim (Jean) Huinker of Woodstock, IL; Jerry (Arlene) Huinker of Elgin, IL; father-in-law, Richard Huber, Oshkosh, WI; sister-in-law, Emogene Wildish, Oshkosh, WI; brother-in-law, Ron Kuehneman, Statesville, NC; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Al was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Marvin.
A Memorial Mass remembering Al will be held with Father Doug LeCaptain officiating on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 830 South Westhaven Drive, Oshkosh, WI, at 6 p.m. A gathering at Kodiak Jack's, 2059 Witzel Avenue, Oshkosh, WI, will follow the service in accordance with Al's wishes. Memorials in Al's name may be directed to St. Raphael Catholic Church.
