Ervin Bartlett, age 83, of Oshkosh, went home to Heaven on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Bethel Home. Ervin was born January 1, 1934 in Oshkosh, son of Otto and Rose (Halderman) Bartlett, one of nine siblings. Ervin served in the US Airforce 1953-1957; stationed in North Africa during the Korean War. He married Gloria A. Lenz on October 1, 1960 at Peace Lutheran Church, Oshkosh. They lived in Neenah for 37 years, moving back to Oshkosh in 1997.Ervin loved being a truck driver for Courtney and Plumber, 4X Corp, then retiring from Michael's Material in 1996. His CB handle was "Curly". He loved animals and always enjoyed seeing the wildlife in the quarry. He and Gloria had a pet skunk named "Stinky" when they were first married. Ervin belonged to the American legion; hobbies included: camping, coffee at Hardees, grand dogs Daisy and Bailey, watching and feeding the squirrels, and the companionship of the dogs and cats at Bethel Home. Son, Troy, had the pleasure to escort his Father on the 18th mission of Old Glory Honor Flight to Washington DC on 6/20/2013; a once in a lifetime experience.Ervin's memory will be cherished by wife Gloria; son, Troy Bartlett (girlfriend Tressa Nelson); daughter, Tracy (Mike) Schettle; step-grandson, Warren Schettle; step great-grandchildren: Dominic and Logan Schettle; God-children: Lee (Lynn) Bartlett, Tom (Teresa) Bartlett, Terry Wahlgren, and Eva Marie Becker.Ervin was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, a sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Bethel Home for the wonderful care he received; a special thank you to the caring staff and kindness over the years from Dr. Anthony Phillips, Dr. Curtis Baltz, and the late Dr. Stephen Wilson.A visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at First English Lutheran Church, 1013 Minnesota Street, Oshkosh, WI 54902.
