Franklin W. Janness, age 81 of Oshkosh, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2006, at home with his loving family by his side. He was born on January 2, 1925, the son of Frank and Elsie (Treptow) Janness. Franklin married Dorothy Karafotis on September 20, 1947. He was employed at Pluswood for 38 years until his retirement in 1989. Franklin was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church, the Cheyenne Shuffle Dance Club for several years, enjoyed country dancing, woodworking projects, scenic drives along country roads, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. Franklin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Janness, his children, Mark (Brenda) Janness, of Monona,WI, Merrilee Janness, Oshkosh, Lorelei (Paul) Reyes, Elmhurst, IL, Jay (Dianna) Janness, Oshkosh, nine grandchildren, Jennipher, Jonathan, Justin, Josef, Demetre (Courtney), Samuel, Isaac, Ezra, and Aaron Janness, three great-grandchildren, Sirena, Teagan, and Brandon, one brother-in-law, Gilbert Discher, Oshkosh, two sister-in-laws, Helen Clark, Oshkosh, and Loraine Cummings, Dallas,TX, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, one son; Craig Janness, and one sister; Leona Discher. A Memorial Service for Franklin will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2006, at 11:00 A.M., at Plymouth Congregational Church, with Pastors Rick Hopkins and Lynn Scovil officiating. Visitation will be held at church on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until time of services. Inurnment will be at Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Franklin's name to Plymouth Congregational Church and the American Cancer Society.
