Obituary

Gayle Jessica Taugner, Born September 20, 1954 in Berlin, WI to Joseph and Irma Taugner. Born to Eternal Life, Sunday, September 11, 2011. Gayle graduated from Berlin High School, Berlin, WI. She then attended Viterbo University, La Crosse, WI and graduated May 1977 with her BS in Health Information Management. After graduation she went to work for the Centers for Disease Control traveling on a data collection project until October 1978 when she returned to Wisconsin and opened Rue Mahj, an antique and vintage reproduction shop at Stonecroft in Grafton, WI. She operated this until 1980 when she moved to El Paso, Texas to pursue her career in health information management. Pursuing that career she then moved to Hurricane, West Virginia in 1984; until 1986 when she moved to Albany, Georgia; in 1990 she moved to Spartanburg, South Carolina; then to South Charleston, West Virginia in 1994; then to Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin in 1997; next to Sauk City, Wisconsin in 2003 and finally to Oshkosh, Wisconsin in 2004 when she began working at the Wisconsin Resource Center until October 2010.

She enjoyed the summers of 1974 and 1975 which were spent at Camp Lucerne in Neshkoro, Wisconsin, where she cooked, played piano and assisted the camp counselors. Gayle loved to be outdoors, horse back riding and traveling. Music was her passion---listening to all type and also playing the piano. Gayle was preceded in death by her parents, Irma (7/2006) and Joseph (3/2009); her grandparents, Fred and Anna Fichtnau Guth and Joseph and Veronica Raestaetter Taugner; and her special grandmother, Jessica Miracle.

She is survived by her brother, Bruce (Anita) Taugner of Appleton; her niece, Jennifer (David) Weast and great nephew, Christian of Darboy; nephew, Jeff (Cindy) and great nephews, Logan, Parker and Ethan of Darboy.

Memorial service will be held at the Chapel at Winnebago Mental Health Institute on Saturday, September 17, 2011. Service to be conducted by Chaplin Jose (Chema) Paba at 10:00 A.M. Visitation from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Gayle's name to the American Cancer Society; Trees for Tomorrow; International Crane Foundation or your favorite charity.

A cherished daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Gayle's legacy is one of grace, dignity, strength and humor no matter what the circumstance. Her engaging personality accompanied by "that look" with a twinkle in her eye, a smile and a spirit to match invited you along for the ride. You've been an inspiration to those you touched and we are better people for it. Thanks for the ride, we will miss you!
