Gene Marie Carriveau, age 104, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at Evergreen Retirement Community in Oshkosh. She was born on October 29, 1905 in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin, the daughter of Joseph and Matilda Carriveau.

Gene graduated from Oconto Falls High School and later the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. She spent her adult life as a Special Ed. Teacher in the Milwaukee Public School System. Many of her students went on to receive their college degrees.

Survivors include one sister in law, Jeannette Carriveau of Oconto Falls, special nephews, Joseph and Michael Carriveau and special niece, Marie Hazen and numerous other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Edmund, George, and Raymond; four sisters, Dorothy Ardts, Violet Larsen, Betty Sherman and Irma Blazer.

Family funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 30, 2010. The family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Retirement Community and Heartland Hospice for providing excellent care and love that Gene received during her final years. In lieu of flowers in Gene's memory, donations may be given to the Evergreen Retirement Community Employee Appreciation Fund.
