Dave Omitt, age 73, of Menasha, passed away Friday, May 13, 2011, at home. He was born September 23, 1937, in Elderon, WI, the son of Henry and Myra (Stenson) Omitt. Dave graduated from Wittenberg High School in 1955, and then later served in the U.S. Army from Dec. 8, 1960, until November of 1966. He had worked for and retired from the City of Menasha Police Department. Dave loved music; especially polka music and polka dancing. He enjoyed the outdoors, sitting on his deck and working in the garden. Family was important to Dave and he cherished spending time with his grandchildren. He had served on boards of Menasha Employees Credit Union and Trinity Lutheran Church.
Dave is loved and will be missed by his wife, Ellen (Nee Sherry); sons, Daniel (Kelli) of Winneconne, Chad (Emily) of Topeka, KS; their mother, Connie (Feavel) Omitt; step daughters, Dana Curry, Jade (Chad) Prusse; grandchildren, Jake, Katie, Nolan, Josh, Evan, Lauren; step-grandchildren, Aiden Currry, Odin Prusse; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Herbert Aamodt, Leroy Omitt, Milton Omitt, Myron Omitt; sister, Ada Polley; brothers in law, Edward Polley and James Sherry.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 Broad St., Menasha, from 4:00 P.M. until the time of the Memorial Service at 7:00 P.M with Rev. Steven S. Billings officiating. A memorial in Dave's name has been established.
