Gregory “Greg” Paul Blume, 73, passed away on August 25, 2026, in Appleton, WI. He was born on April 15, 1953, in Dubuque, Iowa to LaVerne Irving and Elaine Elvera (Hatzenbuehler) Blume.

Greg held a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. He married Jan Herrity on August 20, 1977, and he held his career as a marriage and family therapist until his retirement.

He enjoyed working with finances, playing cards, taking care of the home and spending time with family. He was a simple man, who was happiest when he was with his wife, Jan, and two sons, Chris and John. He loved action movies and games with “the boys”. A great joy was taking a road trip to a small WI town with Jan and eating at a local spot and exploring the areas thrift stores and antique shops.

Greg was incredibly generous and was known to pay for a strangers grocery on more than one occasion. It is well known that he had a sweet tooth, even during his illness. He had homebound friends from church, bringing them communion and lemon meringue pie. His illness showed him that many people liked and admired him. As a person filled with insecurity, these many gestures of love were a great gift.

He is survived by his wife, Jan Blume; and sons, Christopher (Marcy) Blume and John Blume. He is further survived by his siblings, Shelley and Steve (Denise); as well as his sister-in-law, Mary (Mike); brother-in-law, Mike (Gale); as well as many cousins, friends and other family.

He is preceded by his parents, LaVerne and Elaine; brothers-in-law, Tim and Dave; and sister-in-law, Kathy.

A celebration of life will be held at Town Center Park, 1850 Grand Chute Blvd., Appleton, WI, on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 5:00pm to 7:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in his honor.
