Harland L. Powers, age 79, of Oshkosh, died peacefully Tuesday evening, March 29, 2011, at Park View Health Center with his family by his side. Harland was born January 1, 1932, in Baraboo, the son of Roy and Blanche (Pickett) Powers. He grew up in the Baraboo area and graduated from the local high school. Harland was a US Air Force Veteran serving his country during the Korean Conflict. He married Garnell L. Ringquist in Unity, WI, on August 7, 1954. Harland had worked at Lincoln Hills School in Irma, WI and retired from the Winnebago Mental Health Hospital in Oshkosh. During his lifetime, Harland had many interests and passions. He enjoyed the outdoors; hunting, camping and golfing. He was an accomplished baker with wedding cakes being his specialty. He fondly enjoyed his family and absolutely adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Harland is survived, loved and will be missed by his wife, Garnell; children, Gary (Cathy) Powers of Pickett, Glen (Deb) of Tomahawk, Kim (Michael) Phillip of Oshkosh, Mona (Don) Johnson of Oshkosh, Josh (Melissa) Powers of Oshkosh; 19 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sister, Cecil Ewert of Colby; brother, Earl (Peg) Powers of Baraboo; his canine friend, Scooter; other relatives and friends.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, April 8, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church, 110 Church Ave., Oshkosh from 2:30 P.M. until the time of the Memorial Service at 4:00 P.M. with Rev. Tom Willadsen officiating. A memorial in lieu of flowers is being established in Harland's name.
