Harold W. Lyness, age 90 of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully Monday August 2, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born in the Town of Nekimi on December 10, 1919 the son of Joseph and Louisa (Tigert) Lyness. Harold proudly served in the United States Army during World War II and served in Germany under General Patten. He was employed for over 40 plus years at Cook and Brown Company. Harold married Elizabeth "Betty" Eberhart on January 29, 1949 and they enjoyed 52 years of marriage before she passed away on September 11, 2001. He enjoyed participating in many sports, earlier in his life playing baseball and later in life competing in bowling and golfing leagues. Survivors include his daughter Leslie Peterson (fiancé Jay Kolb) of Oshkosh, three sons; Joe Lyness of Middleton, WI, Jed (Mary) Lyness of Gillette, WI, Harold J. Lyness of Oshkosh, four grandchildren; Michael Peterson of Chaska, MN, Marsha (Ryan) Walejko of Neshkoro, Martin Lyness of St. Paul, MN, Beth Lyness of Gillette, one great-granddaughter Bailey Walejko of Neshkoro, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty, parents, son-in-law Larry T. Peterson, siblings, Gilbert, Gordon, Marvin, Ray, Viola, Elda, Ruth and Ruby. Funeral Services for Harold will be held on Saturday August 7, 2010 at Lake View Memorial Park Chapel (2786 Algoma Blvd. Oshkosh) at 12:30 pm. Family and friends may gather at the chapel on Saturday from 11:00 am until time of services. Burial and full military honors will follow the service.
