Obituary

James L. "Zed" Holdren, age 71, of Oshkosh, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 10, 2017. He was born in Oshkosh on September 10, 1945, the son of the late John and Jessie (Weymouth) Holdren. On May 23, 1998 he married Julia Schuhart (Griswold). They had spent 26 wonderful years together. Jim worked at Barney's Wrecker Service, 7-Up, owned Jim's Citgo on Bowen St., and worked as a millwright for Menasha Corporation for over 30 years. He enjoyed his cars from a young age. Hotrods were his car of choice and he was partial to General Motors. He raced stock cars at Leo's Speedway (Oshkosh Speed Zone) and was inducted into the Oshkosh Speed Zone Hall of Fame along with life-long best friend, the late Dave Conger. Many were visited by Santa Clause (Jim) for many years during Christmas. Jim will be remembered for his great sense of humor, contagious smile, his Rosy cheeks, and the family road trips for ice cream and the Tuesday trips to Jorgy's in Borth. Jim is survived by his wife, Julia; children: Jennifer (Todd) Hollenbeck of Neenah, Eric (Mellia) Schneider of Chandler, AZ; Melissa (Terry) Morey of Oshkosh and Ryan (Amanda) Holdren of Oshkosh; grandchildren: Christopher Holdren, Lydia Armbruster, Hunter and Derek Wells, Brooklyn Holdren, Jordan Hollenbeck and Sami Morey; great-granddaughter, Aliyah Seehawer; god-children: John Holdren and Charles Johns; sisters: Beverly Weisjohn, Carol Hunke, Janet Wiesender and Joy Holdren; sister-in-law, Susan Immel; brothers-in-law: Roger Schuhart and Mike Kasper; and his favorite cat, Odie. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his infant sister, Mary Kay Holdren.A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Devermann, Dr. Hanes, Dr. Fletcher, the staff at Aurora Medical Center, and the staff at Aurora at Home Hospice, especially Jessica. All provided wonderful care.
