James "Jim" Werner (1934-2024) of Winneconne passed away on Saturday, July 27th.
Jim was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the second of five siblings. He developed his strong work ethic at an early age, delivering three daily newspapers around his neighborhood. Jim enlisted in the United States Marine Corps while in high school, serving in the Korean War. Shortly after his return to Milwaukee, he met his wife and life partner Mary, who spent 64 years of marriage together.
A machine repairman by trade, Jim could build and fix just about anything. As he would often say, "if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself." He had a love for motorcycles shared with family and friends and continued to ride well into his later years. An avid outdoorsman, Jim could often be found in the Northwoods and national parks across the United States.
Jim is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Dana (Calliari); son-in-law, David; grandchildren, Dustin (Lamia), Jessica (Isaac); and great granddaughter, Leila. They love him and miss him and he will continue to live on in their memories and stories.
