Jay John Meyer, age 76, passed away unexpectedly surrounded by family on May 9, 2025. He was born on September 4, 1948, to Adolph (Duffy) and Marcella (Klotzbuecher) Meyer.
He attended Campus School and graduated from Oshkosh West High School in 1966. He attended UW-O and graduated with a BA in Political Science, Business, and Psychology.
Jay was employed by Duffy Meyer Insurance and Driver's Education, Inc for many years establishing Jay Meyer CLU Investments and Benefits from which he retired.
On April 17, 1971, he married the love of his life, Linda (Kuehn). Jay shared his faith by teaching Sunday School for a total of 35 years at Peace Lutheran Church and Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church.
Jay was past president of Oshkosh Jaycees, Oshkosh Southwest Rotary and Fox Valley Life Underwriters. He enjoyed being around family, golfing, watching Wisconsin sports and talking about politics.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Duffy and Marcella; father and mother-In-law, Fred and Louise Hamann; and brother-in-law, Darwin Tesch.
Jay is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Stephanie (Josh) Jungwirth; son, Jason (Veronica Johnson); grandsons, Adin and Maxwell Jungwirth. Survivors further include, brothers, James (Sue) Meyer and Jerry (Sue) Meyer; and sisters, Jodi (John) Ambrose and Julie (Andrew) Berger. Other survivors include sisters-in-law, Pamela (Dr. Richard) Ames, Deb Tesch and Lisa (Wayne) Buhrow; and brother-in-law, Russ (Debbie) Hamann; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1860 Wisconsin Ave, Oshkosh, WI on Saturday, May 31, 2025, with visitation from 9 - 11 with the service to follow.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
