Joan M Novotny was born in Muskegon, MI September 4, 1929. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family October 13, 2024.
She married Lawrence A Wright on October 15, 1949 in Battle Creek, MI. They moved to Oshkosh in 1955 and finally built a home in 1970. In January 1971 Lawrence passed away and she was left to pay for the home and raise her children on her own. In 1982 she remarried to Donald Novotny. They were together until his passing in 2007.
Joan worked in the food service industry including at UW Oshkosh and Sunnyview Restaurant. She also worked part-time at Miles Kimball and Mr. Cinders until she was in her 70's. She was a devout Catholic that enjoyed gardening, reading, music, spending time with her friends, watching the Green Bay Packers and Days of Our Lives (since the beginning), looking at clouds, and pointing out all the dead trees in town that should be removed.
She leaves behind five children, Marilyn A Binder (David), John A Wright, Charles A Wright (Denise), Laurette A Wright and Nicole A Wright. Along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony & Cynthia Rice; brother, Anthony "Sonny" Rice; and her two husband's, Lawrence A. Wright and Donald Novotny. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Visitation is on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, with services to follow at Fox Cities Funeral & Cremation Services at 3026 Jackson St, Oshkosh, WI 54901.
