Obituary

John Michael Hofacre, age 59, passed away unexpectedly on June 12, 2026, in Oshkosh, WI. He was born on January 13, 1967, to Joanne Marie Picaloski, in Daly City, California.

Growing up in St. Paul, John was a spirited and adventurous child who was always on the move, often finding trouble and excitement alongside his older brother. As he matured, he channeled that energy into athletics, becoming a talented athlete and standout football player in high school. His determination, confidence and larger-than-life personality were evident even then.

Following high school, John took a path uniquely his own, gaining life experiences that broadened his perspective and contributed to the colorful stories he would later share with family and friends. Through both hardships and triumphs, he developed a resilience and determination that carried him throughout his life.

Throughout his life, John experienced both challenges and successes. Through it all, he remained resilient, facing life's ups and downs with determination, humor and an enduring love for the people around him.

A natural people person, John spent much of his career in sales. He never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone, leaving a lasting impression wherever he went. His love of people extended far beyond his work, and he was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. John enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, including traveling and exploring new places, spending time outdoors, golfing, riding motorcycles and gathering around bonfires and cookouts with those he cared about. He loved good conversation, making people laugh with his quick sense of humor and sharing stories from his many adventures. Whether he was debating politics, watching a favorite movie, or planning his next trip, John brought enthusiasm, personality and a vibrant spirit to everything he did.

He is survived by his daughter, Shanelle Hofacre; bonus son, Uriah Alvarado; sister, Angie Jeveaux; nephews, Johnny Hofacre and Alex Himelberger; good friend, Jennifer Grant; and several additional family members and friends. He is further survived by grand-fur-babies, Bilbo Begginsesss “Dude,” Leo and Blu.

Preceding him in death was his mother, Joanne; brother, Michael John Hofacre; an infant sister; nephew, Ryan Himelberger; and mother of his child, Sylvia Alvarado.

A gathering to honor John’s life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared once they become available.
