John J. Miller, age 45 of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully at home on April 25, 2009 with his family by his side. He was born in Oshkosh on April 14, 1964 the son of Jeanne (Geffers) Seager. John bravely battled cancer with extreme dignity for over three years. He made medical history, as the first person in the world to have a double stem cell transplant for his type of cancer. He enjoyed carpentry and building homes. He loved nature, the outdoors and playing sports. John was a skilled Texas Hold-em player and traveled around the country winning tournaments. He was very thankful that his illness united his family much closer. John was known for his spontaneous one line comments that made us laugh. He found humor all around him. He is survived by his mother Jeanne Seager and her husband Joseph Seager Sr. of Oshkosh, three brothers, James V. Miller (Michael Westley) of Milwaukee, Jeffrey D.Miller (Becky) of Timberlake, NC, Christopher J. Miller (Allison Ahlstrand) of Tampa, FL. He was very proud of his two nephews, Anthony and Nicholas Miller of Tampa, FL, and loved his faithful canine companion Zak. He wished to thank all his cousins, aunts and uncles of the Geffers family, his friends and immediate family for all the prayers, love and kindness during his illness. Funeral Services for John will be held on Wednesday April 29, 2009 at Lake View Memorial Park Chapel ( 2786 Algoma Blvd.) at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dick Geffers officiating. Visitation will be held at the Chapel on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated in John's name. A special thank you to Dr. Longo and Dr. Campbell, nurses Carissa and Tiffany of the UW-Madison Cancer Center, and to nurse Paula of Affinity Hospice, for all their care and compassion that was given to John and his family.
