Obituary

John S. Zimar, age 83, of Oshkosh, died early Saturday morning, February 5, 2005 at Evergreen Retirement Community in Oshkosh. He was born October 20, 1921 in Berlin, WI the son of Walter and Mary (Rutkowski) Zimar. He grew up in Berlin and was educated in the Berlin School System and later married Mary J. Boese. John was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He also served in the Civil Conservation Corp. John retired in 1984 from Realist, Inc. in Berlin where he had worked for 25 years. All who knew him will remember his passion for gardening, building homes and his enjoyment of fishing, hunting, and camping.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; sons, William C. (Susan Neitzel) Zimar of Pickett, WI., and Robert C. Zimar of Henderson, Neveda; daughter, Suzanne C. (Timothy S.) Laszewski of Menasha; grandchildren, Nicholas I. and Douglas A. Laszewski; sister, Gertrude Ustymowicz; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2005 in the Chapel at Evergreen Retirement Community, 1130 N. Westfield St., Oshkosh at 1:30 p.m. with Chaplain Lenore Domers officiating.
