Joseph R. Stratz Jr., age 77, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, on Monday, June 15, 2015. He was born in Oshkosh on May 7, 1938 the son of Joseph and Amber (Koeck) Stratz. On July 16, 1960 he married Jane Scheibinger at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Joe was a self employed skilled craftsman, building everything from matchboxes to mansions. Many buildings at EAA were built by Joe. He found much pride in teaching young men his trade. Joe also enjoyed maintaining his rental properties. Joe and Jane have spent their winters in their home in The Villages, FL since 2008. Joe loved all of the activities this retirement area has to offer, especially riding the golf cart and listening to live music. Joe was a spiritual man and should be remembered for the love he had for his children and grandchildren.Joe is survived by his wife, Jane: children: Martin Stratz of Florida, Angela (Timothy) Costello of Oshkosh, Laura (Craig) Stasila of Indiana, and Sarah (Eric) White of Grafton; grandchildren: Leo, Luke and Alexandria Costello, Maven and Harlow Stasila, Teagan, Jillian and Vivian White; mother, Amber Stratz; sisters: Susan (Robert) Gehrke and Frances Nelson; brother, Michael (Sandy) Stratz; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph; sister, April Burkholder; and sister-in-law, Dottie Stratz.A private memorial service will be held.
