Joy A. (Colligan) Bennett, age 70, passed away with her family by her side on January 25, 2024, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. She was born to parents, Arden and Irene (Nelson) Colligan on July 13, 1953, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
She attended UWO Oshkosh with a major in Music and a minor in Geology. It was during that time she met the love of her life, Mitchel Bennett. They married on June 26, 1976, and were able to spend over 47 wonderful years together.
Joy was able to use her love of music to teach many students how to play the piano. She was also known for her fabulous home fashion parties and being a hands-on Mom. She enjoyed listening to music, singing, sewing, reading, camping, and traveling. Joy and Mitch especially enjoyed the outdoors and traveled extensively across the states on their motorcycle together, making lifelong memories.
She is survived by her husband, Mitchel J. Bennett; son, Dustin R. Bennett; mother-in-law, Shirley (Robert) Jacques; brothers-in-law, Rance (Kathy) Bennett and Kevin Bennett; sisters-in-law, Kim (John) Thomson, Robin Begrow, and Barbara (Christian) Schatz; along with many other family and friends.
Preceding her were her parents; brother, Larry Colligan; and sister, Judith Helm.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, at River Valley Church, 1331 High Ave., Oshkosh, Wisconsin, 54901, from 2:00pm to 3:00 pm, with service to follow.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established by the family to honor Joy. Donations will be accepted directly to the family or Fox Cities funeral Home, Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at Ascension Mercy Medical Center and the nurses at Compassus Hospice, for their excellent care and kindness given during their journey.
