Judith "Judy" Ann Brubaker
, 84, passed peacefully into eternal life on May 28, 2025.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
(2 Timothy 4:7)
She was born on February 5, 1941, to Otis and Zola (Hathaway) Graner in Iuka, Illinois. She was a beloved daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother, and grandmother. Judy lived her life with quiet strength and determination. She worked as a bookkeeper and homemaker and was known for her remarkable mind for numbers. She enjoyed watching Cardinals baseball, playing board games and cards, and simply being with those she loved. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she loved them with her whole heart.
Her presence shaped her family in ways that will be felt for generations. She is loved. She is missed. Her family takes great joy in the image of her doing cartwheels in Heaven, as described by her granddaughter—free, light, and fully herself again.
Judy is survived by her son, Derek (Jacklyn) Brubaker; her grandchildren, Faith, Sophia, Helena and Gideon; her brother, Jerry (Judy) Graner; nieces and nephews, Kelly (Brad) Stevenson, Jeff Graner and Michael (Dana) Graner; and grand-nieces and nephews, Emma Stevenson, Matthew Stevenson and Jordan Graner. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald "Bud" Brubaker; her brother, Jack Graner; and her niece, Christina Graner.
There will be no formal services at this time. Judy's final resting place will be beside her husband at the Iuka Cemetery in Illinois. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her honor.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to St. Croix Hospice, Heartland Hospice, and Country Villa for their compassionate care. A special thank you also to Sharon Jackson of Heritage Court Apartments, who loved and supported Judy so kindly.
