Karen J. Selbach, age 69 of Oshkosh, passed away Sunday February 1, 2009 at Harbor House in Oshkosh, with her family at her side. She was born in New London on April 16, 1939 the daughter of the late Norman and Lucille (Burton) Krause. She married Gordy Selbach on February 2, 1970. Karen worked at the Kimberly Clark Main Office, was a Medical Receptionist at Riverside Clinic and Nicolet Clinic and was a stay at home mom who cared and babysat for many children in addition to her own. She enjoyed cribbage, spectator sports, bowling, crossword puzzles, listening to music, karaoke, and singing with the Fox Valley "Sweet Adeline's" singing group. She was also a member of Sacred Heart Church serving as the Renew Group Leader. She is survived by her husband Gordy, two daughters, Kayla (Russ) Barker and their children Brooke and Bradan of Oshkosh, Jenni (Paul) Geffers and their children Carissa Jane, Rebecca, Joey and Ava all of Oshkosh, one stepson Doug Selbach of Neenah, one brother Norm (Helga) Krause of Germany, one brother-in-law Art (Nona) Selbach, two sister-in-laws Susie Schreiner and Kathy (Jerry) Akstulewicz all of Menasha, one Goddaughter Jill Coenen of Neenah, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Carol, brother-in-law Dean Schreiner, father-in-law Harry Selbach, and mother-in-law Stella Selbach. A Memorial Mass for Karen will be held on Thursday February 5, 2009 at St. Jude Parish (Sacred Heart Church 519 Knapp St.) at 5:30 p.m. with Fr. Joel Sember officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church on Thursday from 3:30 p.m. until time of services. Inurnment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Karen's name. A special thank you to Zion Eldercare's Donna Thomas, Dona McEssey, Dr. Teresa Lee of Affinity, Dr. Michael Bell and Erika, Paul and Jolene Moran and the staff at Emerald Ridge, Tony Dombrowski, Linda Meier and other caregivers from Heartland Hospice, and the staff at Harbor House for all the wonderful care and compassion that was given to Karen and her family.
