Obituary
Lawrence "Hood" Korinek, 86, passed away in Omro, WI on November 24, 2023. He was born in Milwaukee, WI to John M. and Sophie (Koscielny) Korinek on April 23, 1937.
He enlisted in the United States Navy and served for several years. In August 1959, he married the love of his life, Betty Lou Thayer. Together, they enjoyed playing cribbage, playing in bowling leagues together and going to the casino. She could also be found rooting for him when he played in Baseball League or riding on their motorcycle. When they began having a family, they went camping a lot, started yearly trips to Great America and they joined snowmobile clubs, and competed in the Demolition Derby. A favorite pastime of his was to watch the Packers and Brewers.
Lawrence is survived by his three children, Sheryl Korinek, Sheila (Bruce) VanPay, and Scott Korinek; six grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Hood rejoins his wife of over 65 years, Betty, who passed away a few short months ago. He is further preceded by his parents; son, Larry Korinek; great-grandson, Talon; and his two siblings.
Per his wishes, no services will be held at this time. The family has established a memorial in his honor.
