Obituary

On Saturday October 19 2013, kind and gentle angels surrounded us as they came to take one of their own home. Lee Joseph Doberstein 88, with his family by his side, left this life to join his heavenly Father. He was born on October 5, 1925, to Edward and Martha Doberstein in DePere, Wisconsin.

Lee honorably served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Upon returning home he married Ruby Lasee and together they created a family of ten children. This past February they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary.

Lee was a family man that enjoyed reading, watching sports and cooking. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his 18 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, who lovingly called him Papa. He was a proud Packer fan and talked about surviving the "Ice Bowl" of 1967 and attending Super Bowl II.

He is survived by his wife Ruby, and his children, Sandy (Bob) Bessette, Mary (Mike) Strycker, Nancy (Bob) Schoenberger, Edward "Ted" (Karene Powers) Doberstein, Jim (Kathy) Doberstein and Tim (Cheryl) Doberstein, all of Oshkosh, Bob (Joean Lankford) Doberstein of Centennial, WY, Jeanie Jones, Joanie (Mike) Rohrs and Dave Sacho, all of California, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lee was preceded in death by his daughter Patty Sacho, his parents, his brother Ralph and his son-in-law Pat Jones.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday October 25, 2013, at Most Blessed Sacrament- St. Peter site, 449 High Ave. Oshkosh, WI. Visitation for family and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the Affinity Home Care Plus team for their kind and respectful care of Lee.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Most Blessed Sacrament Parish or Affinity Home Care Plus.
