Obituary

LuWilla S. Pillar, 91, passed away on February 10, 2024. She was born on March 16, 1932 to Agnes (Rentmeester) and Alvin Pigeon in Green Bay, WI.

LuWilla was a talented fiber artist, spinning and dying yarn, felting and weaving. She also raised seven children, and will be remembered for being a devout, strong-willed, caring and compassionate woman.  She was an advocate for mental health issues and Right-to-Life.

She is survived by her children, Michele (Dennis) Redding, Anne (Max) Calle, Julia (Paul) Schaefer, Monica (Maged) Dessouky, Daniel Pillar, and Stephen Pillar; grandchildren, Ben Redding, Sarah (Leon) Chen, Nicholas Calle, Maura Schaefer, Colm Schaefer, Nathan Dessouky, and Alexander (Jen) Dessouky; great-grandchildren, Miles Redding, Wesley Redding, Ronan Chen, and Ellis Chen; sister, Mary (Ed) Holschuh; sister in-law Pat Pillar; as well as many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Preceding her are her parents, Agnes and Alvin; husband, James Pillar; son, Christopher Pillar; sisters, Arletta Laundre and Ann Emmel.

A celebration of life will be held in Urbana, IL at a later date.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring and compassionate staff at Evergreen Retirement Community in Oshkosh, WI.
