Obituary

Marlene Norma (Hedtke) Reisler, age 82, passed away with her family by her side on September 13, 2024, in Oshkosh, WI. She was born to parents, Norman "Fritz" and Hazel (Brusius) Hedtke on May 22, 1942, in Wisconsin.

In 1961, she gave birth to her first son in Colorado and moved back to Wisconsin to be closer to family shortly after. Marlene worked at the National Tavern with her parents, then went on to secretarial work at a car dealership, was a caregiver, worked at a pet and garden center until she went on to own Larry's Sign Connection for many years. She had a strong work ethic.

On July 10, 1993, she married the love of her life, Alfred "Al" J. Reisler, in Oshkosh, WI. They have known each other for over 33 years.

Marlene was very loving, creative and giving of her time. Aside from doing caregiving, she watched out for all the neighborhood stray cats and made homemade cards. She could look at ordinary items and find beauty. She was resourceful and could turn leftover materials into rugs, bowls, jewelry and stained glass. She enjoyed making beaded jewelry such as bracelets and earrings and creating journals, gardening, collecting stamps and adding personal touches to her home and business. She also loved collecting anything that had an elephant on it.

She is survived by her husband, Al Reisler; son, Michael (Christine) Schraa; step-son, Clay (Louise) Reisler; grandchildren, Lauren Schraa, Carly (Alex) Vechart, Annalise Schraa, Brock (Michelle) Reisler and Bennett (Taylor) Reisler; great-grandchildren, Truett and Celeste; brother, Brett (Sunny) Hedtke; sisters-in-law, Pamela Hedtke and Hazel (Joe) Martinez; nieces, Cheryl Peppler and Sandra Folske; as well as many other family members and friends.

Preceding her in death was her parents; son, Gary Zarling; brother, Terry Hedtke; sister, Audrey (Marvin) Peppler; and her beloved mother-in-law Bonita Reisler.

Visitation will be held at Lake View Memorial Park, 2786 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh, WI, Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 11:00am to 12:30pm, with service to immediately follow.
