Martha Ann (Cox) Dufresne, 69, from Oshkosh, WI, died peacefully on July 1, 2016, while hospitalized at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. She was born on August 29, 1946 in Carbondale, IL, daughter of Verdie and Ginny Cox. She was raised in Houghton, MI and enjoyed family, friends and sports. She attended Ferris State College and earned a Cosmetology degree which she used for a few years prior to raising her children. Martha married Richard Dufresne on September 20, 1969, 5 months after meeting on the golf course, and they shared 46 years together. They raised 2 children, Todd and Katie, and she often stated that being a mom was her greatest gift. Their family resided in Michigan, Germany, Wisconsin and Maine, and once their children were in college, Rich and Martha moved to Dover, DE and back to Oshkosh, WI for Rich's career, and Oshkosh is where they have resided for the last 15 years. Martha was loved by all, including strangers, as they felt compelled to tell her their life stories due to her warm and welcoming eyes and her big smile no matter where she went. She loved her family with all of her heart, and she referred to her 4 grandchildren as "Grandma's little angels." She enjoyed life's simple pleasures and took pride in her home and her family. Martha loved the game of golf starting at a very young age, and continued to play throughout her life until her stroke in 2010.While residing in Winslow, ME, Martha found her true passion of teaching, and became a regular substitute and subsequently a staff member in the Winslow School System. She touched the lives of many students and teachers, often referring to that time of her life as her happiest; raising her children with her husband, enjoying time with very special friends, and sharing her gift of teaching. Martha is survived by her husband Rich; son Todd and daughter Katie (and Jamie Derosier); grandchildren Elizabeth and Sam Dufresne and Jack and Luke Derosier; brother Tom Cox (and Sandy); and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Menominee, MI. A vigil will be held the evening before at 4:00 p.m. at Cadieu Funeral Home.
