Martha O. Nelson, age 94, of Oshkosh and formerly of Shawano, died Thursday, May 1, 2014, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. Born on March 12, 1920, the daughter of Fredrick and Agatha (Hildemann) Steinberg, Martha was employed as a garment inspector at Eagle Knitting Mill in Shawano before her retirement.
She was a former member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano and a current member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. Martha enjoyed time spent gardening, crocheting, cooking, and the making of quilts and slipper socks.
Survivors include a daughter, Constance Kowalske; two grandchildren, Kristina (Micah) Morrison and Stacy Kowalske; two great-grandchildren, Kayla and Ryan; a twin brother, Martin Steinberg; a step-son, John (Donna) Nelson; and other family members. Preceding Martha in death is her first husband, Martin O. Kowalske, a son, Daniel O. Kowalske, and her second husband, James R. Nelson Sr.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
